MDEC and Futurise Sdn. Bhd. recently organized MydroneX University DroneTech Competition, and the competition aims to bring out local university talent in the drone industry. Students were to propose innovative ideas to solve industry problems. There were 16 university teams around Malaysia shortlisted in the pitching session, and APU was among the 2 teams shortlisted.
The competition was eventful with Universities showing some of the latest drone research projects. Our APU team proposes multi-functional drone for inventory updates and another APU team proposes radioactive detection drone. The multi-functional drone team won as first runner-up in the competition, and both teams are mentored by Ir. Dr. Alvin Yap. Our project is now on par with some of the well-funded drone research projects from other Universities.
